Providence Plantation In The News
October 2012
The "George's Creek" sign that Providence Plantation was responsible for getting made is now installed on Maryland State Route 36 and 68 at Frostburg, Maryland.
It indicates the location of Washington's passage (at least nine encampments) through that location on his westward travels between 1753 and 1770.
Many, many thanks for your efforts to get this marker written and placed. The area has seen so much history, which is not apparent to most residents and travelers. This would not have happened without your proposal. I hope your plans for a ceremony work out; please keep us informed. I would like to attend if all works out.
